Hydropar® M1 1200 W HMI (5600K).

hp1200wm1

HydroPar® 1200w M1 HMI lighting systems are state-of-the-art underwater lights specifically designed for feature and commercial film production.

Compact and lightweight, the 1200w can be tailored to a variety of shooting situations. HydroPar 1200w HMIs mate to a 5/8” spud for compatibility with standard grip and lighting equipment. The globe is an industry standard 1200w SE making replacement easy anywhere in the world.

The HydroPar 1200w M1 HMI light is for underwater use only. It is available with interchangeable reflectors for spot, medium and flood configurations. Because the bulb is enclosed in a tight fitting glass envelope, the beam pattern is adjusted by using the interchangeable reflectors to collimate the light. We use reflectors, not par diffuser lenses, to adjust the beam in this light. When a par diffuser lens is placed underwater so that both surfaces (especially the inner shaped surface) have water contact, the ability of the diffuser to spread light is significantly reduced.

All reflectors are designed to accept a variety of accessories including gels, scrims and barn doors. The HydroPar 1200W M1 conforms to UL 1573 and CE Standards and is certified to CAN/CSA Standard C22.2 NO. 166.

They may be used individually, handheld, or hard mounted with our simple-to-attach weight cuffs. The lamps can also be grouped in banks of four or eight on flat panels or in our underwater soft boxes to provide a soft key or fill source. The fixtures may also be fitted with patterned sleeves and used as on-camera practical lighting. Our lights are available with UV Super Blue and Kino Flo® 2800, 3200 and 5500 tubes.

flotubes
All HydroFlo fluorescent fixtures are supplied with underwater mateable connectors that allow them to be mounted in underwater sets, after which cables can be brought down and connected. Power distribution for the four-bank soft boxes has been simplified by using a single 16-conductor cable that breaks out into four 4-conductor connectors at its end, thereby eliminating four separate cord extensions.

The HydroFlo Mick Light is a compact, lightweight variation of the HydroFlo light box using two 15" KINO FLO® tubes. Its size and weight make it useful as a fill light for tight quarters. Dry weight is 8 1/2 lbs. and wet weight is 1 1/2 lbs.

UW HOUSING NAUTICAM FOR ALEXA MINI (AVAILABLE NOW)

Arri Alexa is the undisputed king of the feature film and commercial production video worlds,
and the latest form factor iteration brings the amazing Alexa image quality into a super-
lightweight carbon fiber body that is less than half the length of an Alexa XT, and weighs 2.3
kg / 5 lbs. Alexa Mini is ideal for use on drones, gimbals, and integrates perfectly into the
Nauticam Cinema System. The 4:3 Alexa sensor, complete with anamorphic de-squeeze,
ArriRAW, and ProRes recording in camera to CFast 2.0 cards in an underwater system.
Footagethat cuts seamlessly with other Alexa cameras cameras on set, with the same workflow.

Optically Coated Glass Dome Port
Our exclusive 250mm optically coated glass dome port is supplied with every system,
and we believe it is the best optic available for cinema lenses.
The 250mm dome port diameter - 10 inches - is a key for good wide angle imaging performance
with many cinema lenses underwater. Smaller domes can work well with close focusing SLR lenses,
but many cinema lenses have a longer minimum focus distance in the .35-.40m (14-16") range.
Using Arri Master Prime T1.4/14mm, with its .4m MFD as an example, the 250mm dome provides
clearly superior results over smaller domes. Images have higher overall sharpness,
and much higher corner sharpness with the 250mm dome. This is the very same port used
in the optical system designed in conjunction with HydroFlex for Alexa65, and used in feature film work.
The glass dome is rugged, and extremely resistant to scratching. Broadband Anti-Reflective Coatings
eliminate flare, reflections, and ghosting from the port optic. A robust machined aluminum
shade protects the dome, and provides additional flare resistance.

These motors are mounted on purpose built brackets affixed to the camera tray, and do not need
to be removed when changing lenses, or when pulling the camera from the housing.
- HD-SDI Cables for Surface Monitoring
- 4-Pin Waterproof LCS Cable for WCU-4 Control of 3 Motors and Camera Functions - Ethernet for Surface Camera Control
- ARRI “cForce mini" Motor Mounting Brackets
The housing also ships with two 3/4" Hydroflex Bulkheads allowing the power, remote control, and remote monitor umbilicals from other Hydroflex rental systems to be used on Alexa Mini.

Easy Camera Setup
Designed with both owner/operator and rental markets in mind, the Nauticam system is very easy to build. Armed with only a coin and #3 allen wrench, the entire support and lens control system is constructed on the camera base plate outside of the housing. This means the the camera, lens, lens control system, and even motors can be built on a table, in good light, with plenty of working space. Once the camera is assembled on its tray, the entire system slides into the housing, and locks securely in place.
Lens changes are just as easy, with accessed through the large 200mm port opening, or even more easily by pulling the camera and lens out of the housing back door for unencumbered access.

DW 435 Housing for the ARRI 435

altThe DW 435 is relatively simple and easy to use in the water. This housing was designed to work with the Arri 435 IVS with a 122m chassis. It can be mounted /assembled together with different lenses, Cooke, Panavision or Zeiss. The dome and flat port are interchangeable.

With its own lense and through the eye of the camera, the operator is able to see a large and clear image. The display port extends behind the rear of the housing to provide more space and making it possible for the camera operator to place his mask as close as possible to the viewer, allowing for a comfortable working position. Both the focus and the iris controls of the lens are to be found in the front left of the housing and can be easily viewed and adjusted by the operator or the assistant.

We have incorporated a witness camera near to the lens and an 2.5” external monitor so enabling the assistant to see the marks of the lens from the outside. There is also a direct view of the meter counter from a side window and from another window the display indictions can be seen.

Two Anton Bahuer lithium batteries provide power to the camera and can shoot multiple chassis unchanged.

NOTE:  The 435 Extreme does not work with the radio module FEM 2.

Underwater Housing for Sony a7s II + Underwater Housing for Atomos Shogun.

Nauticam NA-A7II Underwater Housing for Sony a7 II Full Frame Mirrorless Camera. The NA-A7II ships with built-in, yet adjustable handles, featuring Nauticams famous contoured rubberized grip. The AF/MF/AEL button is given special treatment on the right side of the housing with a direct access lever immediately reachable by the right thumb. This allows the button to be programmed for AF-ON meaning thumb focus fans can easily have perfect functionality. The shutter release can be accessed at the same time, offering extremely quick focus-to-shoot finger action. Like many Nauticam housings, the play button is brought up to the left thumb, and the three command dials (think shutter speed, aperture and exposure compensation) can be adjusted quickly with minimal reach. The ISO button is within short reach of the right thumb, important for video shooters. Speaking of video, the record button is on the top right, thus eliminating camera shake during video start/stop.

SplashBag

splashbag4
HydroFlex makes a full line of splash bags to accommodate a variety of cameras. More than a rain cover, a splash bag is a sealed unit with a custom dry-suit type zipper that allows easy access to a camera while ensuring full protection from rain or other wet conditions. It can be used hand-held or mounted on a tripod or crane. A splash bag combined with our HydroHead remote pan & tilt head, allows smooth seamless remote camera use in rain, a dump tank, a boat, or any other wet location. Click here for more information about the HydroHead. Splash bags are not immersible and should be used for surface use only. For camera protection while filming underwater, see Camera Housings.

All of our splash bags have integral spray deflector systems to prevent water drops from collecting in front of the lens. Splash bags are equipped with either the HydroFlex air-powered spray deflector system or a spinning disc system. An internal defogging system keeps condensation from forming in front of the lens.

Once it's in a splash bag, the camera's lens control can be achieved with a Preston remote system or manually with a follow focus whip. Clear side panels on the bag allow easy viewing of lens and camera settings. Magazine changes and most lens changes can be made easily without removing the camera from the bag. The viewfinder retains over 90º of rotational adjustment.

Inside the bag, the camera position is fully adjustable to accommodate several different lenses. Outside the bag, the mounting base remains adjustable, enabling the system to be balanced on a head regardless of the lens chosen. A built-in matte box accepts accessories including eyebrows and hard mattes.

Most of our bags can be fitted with optional, externally mounted waterproof monitors. Standard definition or HD can be used according to which camera you are using. See our monitors page for details.

HydroHead

hydroHead

The HydroHead from HydroFlex, Inc. is a waterproof remote pan and tilt head which also allows a roll axis providing with its 3 Axis system (+/- 35º).
It is the perfect compliment to the HD Remote Aqua Cam, RAC 435 and RAC RED.

The HydroHead's light weight and low profile, combined with the tubular hydrodynamics of the RemoteAquaCams, allow this system to glide through the water with less resistance than anything currently available.

The Hydrohead uses underwater connectors. An optional "L" bracket allows a standard Arri or Panavision camera package to be mounted in one of our custom splash bags for surface wet work.

The HydroHead system uses Power Pod electronics and offers operator familiarity and years of dependable, in the field experience.

A dovetail balance plate is built into the tilt rotator to accommodate a wide variety of prime and zoom lenses including the Panavision Primo Macro Zoom. Also a large selection of camera combinations and HydroFlex custom Splash Bags can be fitted for above water shooting in wet situations.

Plan
We believe that it is essential and important that our client maintains a direct communication with us prior to starting on any underwater projects.

Filming in an aquatic environment has some important limitations, but not insurmountable ones. We believe that with proper planning, the shoot, which could involve some tricky situations, can be made a much simpler process. Therefore, we recommend that before shooting that you contact us so that we can study together all the details of the production.

Development

development

Several of our housings can hold different models of cameras.

Our housing, Blue2, can fit almost any model of camera. Working with a new camera, a new format, with new communication protocols, etc. .. can be possible, just get in contact with us. We were among the very first people to shoot underwater using an ARRI 435 in 1997. And again in 2000, when we recorded sequences of Julio Medem's film "Sex and Lucia" with a Sony HDW-F900. Sony Japan sent us a prototype of this camera so that we could adapt it to suit our housing, Blue1, since at that time this camera was not on sale commercially. We were also the first to record at 1000 fps underwater with the Phantom HD Gold.
